From 11 April to 6 September 2026, the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence, together with the Jean and Suzanne Planque Foundation, presents Kosta Alex, Coup de chapeau at Granet XXe, Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs, celebrating the work of Greek-American artist Kosta Alexopoulos (1925–2005), known as Kosta Alex.
This retrospective brings together around sixty works spanning fifty years of the artist’s career from his arrival in Paris to his death in 2005, including sculptures, assemblages, relief panels, collages, drawings, films and archival material.
Kosta Alex, a prolific, reserved and free-spirited sculptor admired by Swiss collector Jean Planque, found inspiration in the poetry of everyday life, working independently of prevailing artistic trends.
He transformed simple, found materials into a distinctive body of work, imbued with humour and inventiveness.
Marking fifteen years of collaboration and meaningful exchange between the Jean and Suzanne Planque Foundation and the Musée Granet, this event is a “hat tip” celebrating both this artistic journey and an extraordinary collection.

Admission fees
Admission to the Kosta Alex exhibition does not include access to the Musée Granet, Place Saint-Jean de Malte.
Free admission to Granet XXe, Chapelle des Pénitents blancs, on the first Sunday of the month.
